    The center of the community is the Brookwood Hills Community Club; which includes a park, pool, pavilions, tennis courts, and basketball.     Brookwood Hills was developed in the 1920s mostly by Benjamin Franklin Burdett and his son Arthur Burdett. Kauffman engineered Brookwood Hills as an enclave with curvilinear streets. Kauffman had worked with Olmstead on the design of Druid Hills in Atlanta. Kauffman designed tree lined streets that followed the terrain and avoided the grid pattern. Brookwood Hills has retained its 1920's ambiance, with parts of the neighborhood placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 as the Brookwood Hills Historic District. Signs of renovation and restoration are evident in nearly every home in Brookwood Hills. Many of Atlanta's finest historic homes may be found in Brookwood Hills. A smattering of new houses can also be found in Brookwood Hills.
    In the early 1900's, Brookwood Hills was a distant suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.
